TrackMeGo is currently designed to work with the Tramigo T22 Assets Tracking Device. It works by sending an SMS with the relevant commands to the T22, and then receiving and interpreting the response. In order for this to work - your PC or laptop must be "SMS enabled". This is achieved by adding either a compatible mobile phone, or a dedicated GSM modem.
Fist of all, it has to be stated from the onset that at the time of writing, TrackMeGo will not work with any kind of Nokia mobile phone. This is due to the way Nokia have "hidden" aspects of the system. We have extensively tested Ericsson and SonyEricsson phones with much success. We are currently investigating the "Nokia problem" and will hopefully have a "cure" in the future.
When using a mobile phone, it is worth explaining here that when the SMS message is received on the SIM card, the mobile reads it into its own internal memory. Because of this, the setting page of TrackMeGo MUST be set to READ FROM DEVICE as the SMS is not stored on the SIM.
To determine the correct port for TrackMeGo, open Control Panel and select Phone and Modem Options.

This picture shows a SonyEricsson W810 connected. Some phones, such as this, offer two com ports as can be seen here. Trial and error has shown that the "data" modem works best for TrackMeGo. If using another brand of phone, you may have experiment to determine the best setting.
The connect directly to your computer. Some are USB connection (such as Mobidata and Samba) and some are RS323 (such as Wavecom). The method of connection is not important - you just have to know which port is in use, in the same way as for the mobile shown above.
Where the difference comes in the "READ FROM" setting. Some devices, such as the Mobidata, read directly from the SIM card, and "READ FROM SIM" should be selected. Others, such as the Samba 55, works like a mobile and you have to use "READ FROM DEVICE". Again, it’s trial and error, but first step would be to use "SIM", then try "DEVICE" if that doesn’t work.
The best way to test your SMS set up is to add your own mobile phone as an asset, then use TrackMeGo to send a message (any command will do). When your phone receives it, reply with another message and look for it appearing in the History window of the asset. If it doesn’t appear, try changing the "READ FROM..." setting and then go back to the asset and watch.
Further testing can be carried out, if necessary, using any software that came with the modem.
TrackMeGo Ltd can recommend and supply the Mobidata modem. And can arrange shipping to anywhere in the world. The software is tried and tested with these devices and we have found them to be the most cost effective solution.
Alternatively, the SonyEricsson W200i seems to be the most economical mobile phone solution.
